JOHN DOE obtains the attention of the Beloit International Film Festival

*In preparation for the unveiling of The JOHN DOE Movement’s ‘Rescue America Project’ in August of 09’ founder Michael Rorabeck had written & produced a 7-minute Short Film (under the direction of his son) that soberly conveys the message of how unemployment, job loss and Foreclosure knows no boundaries and effects all ages, incomes & classes; dramatically capturing the devastation of Four very Unique families facing foreclosure. WE of The JOHN DOE Movement are Now very excited & honored to announce that, The Beloit International Film Festival had selected The Movie to screen at this year’s ‘2010’ 5th annual event! in Beloit, Wisconsin on Thursday February 18th – 21st

We are very proud of the piece & it is OUR hope that the presentation of our film – simply entitled ‘Foreclosure’ – will not only raise the awareness of our nation’s struggle with foreclosure & OUR united attempt to thwart the Rising & Harmful condition through compassion, understanding & donation to The RESCUE AMERICA PROJECT, but encourage the majority to Get Involved in their struggling neighbor’s lives, further stressing the philosophy: “What have you done Today to help your neighbor?”

“Foreclosure,” screened on Thurs. Feb 18, 730pm @ The Beloit Public Library & on Sat. Feb 20, 5pm @ La Casa Grande. With BIFF behind us – ‘Foreclosure’ is NOW available for viewing on YOUtube.

*The “Rescue America Project”
is a project aimed at ceasing and preventing all local foreclosures in Rock County. In addition to preventing all foreclosure in Rock County, the group is also focused on stabilizing the local housing market, stabilizing home values and assisting those facing foreclosure in Rock County.

"Foreclosure is a community problem which requires a community solution," spoke Michael Rorabeck, founder of The John Doe Movement.

The group then hopes the leaders of other communities outside of Rock County implement their plan and begin to “Rescue America!”

*The Rescue America Plan*
(starting first - HERE in Rock County)
Aimed at accomplishing the following:

  A) Assisting those facing foreclosure.

  B) Ceasing all foreclosures in Rock County.

  C) Stabilizing the housing market in Rock County.

  D) Stabilizing home values in Rock County.

  E) Creating a template/program for all other counties in
                                          Wisconsin to follow.

How are
WE
- as a Community - going to accomplish this!?

*The Facts:

  • Nationwide
    • 7%  of Americans are in Foreclosure
    • 12%  in Deliquent/Default Status
    • 81%  pay their Mortgage on time

*If a family loses their home in Foreclosure, it is easy to critically speculate and assume that they must have been irresponsible with the loan payments or they bought a home way out of their league. Despite the fact that those are possible reasons for foreclosure, truth be told that there are many other reasons people foreclose on a home; and many times it is out of their control.

  • Death in the family
  • Divorce - A life changing issue, & a split in a household can cause people to lose their homes
  • Medical Reasons: An accident; an unexpected illness; a catastrophic health issue – can all lead to a surplus of uninvited bills which can ruin one’s financial life as well.
  • Adjustable Rate Mortgage: Buyer is enticed into a lower rate mortgage that they can easily handle; but, three years later their interest rate adjusts and their payment can double.
  • Job Loss: we all know, that in today's unstable economy - As the unemployment rate goes up, it is safe to assume that foreclosure numbers will raise as well.

* We are asking the 81% to help the 12% *
_______________________

* There are 58,617 households in Rock County.

* We are asking the 81%
- whom are able & capable of paying their mortgage - to HELP the 12% that
   are in distress
- due to former statements above, regarding: "circumstances-beyond-their-control"

* WE are asking...each functioning/stable/prospering Household capable, to pledge $10 dolllars a
   month,
for the next 17 months - (the duration set to accomplish our mission in 'helping others!') - until the
   end of 2010.
